In Hong Kong, traditional matchmaking agencies often charge a joining fee of several thousand Hong Kong dollars, and sometimes much more, for a package of introductions over months. Dating apps are cheaper to start, then ask for a subscription. Corner Table charges neither: there is no joining fee and no subscription. You pay HK$188 each when a date is confirmed. There is no fee for your first date.
What you are usually paying for
A matchmaker's fee is for the work: getting to know you, choosing someone, arranging the meeting, and the rules that protect both people if plans change. Venue bills are separate: you pay for what you order.
Packages that quote a big number up front can include a set number of introductions, coaching, or a guarantee of dates. Read the contract carefully. Hong Kong's Consumer Council has warned that complaints rise when people are promised more dates or stricter matching than the service can deliver.
How Corner Table charges
- No joining fee.
- No monthly subscription.
- HK$188 each when a date is confirmed (the introduction and the booking). No fee for the first date we book for you.
- If the other person cancels or does not show, your credit comes back, or we refund money you paid.
You never pay for a date that did not happen through no fault of your own. The full rules are in the terms and on the price section of the home page.
What this does not include
The fee does not cover food or drinks. A first date with Corner Table is a drink at a quiet public place we book. Each person pays their own.
